In mid-2002 Texas had three Indian casinos. However, the state's Attorney General started legal action against two of those operations and he was successful in closing them. The two affected tribes are attempting to work with the Texas legislature to allow them to reopen but as of August 2004 no arrangements had been made to allow them to reopen.
