In June 1993 Indiana became the sixth state to legalize riverboat gambling. All 10 of the state's riverboat casinos offer dockside gambling and, unless otherwise noted, are open 24 hours.

On July 20, 2004 a license was awarded to Donald Trump to build an 11th casino in French Lick (map location #10). That casino is expected to open in early 2006.

Admission is free to all Indiana casinos except for two: Argosy and Aztar. However, if you're a rated player from another casino you may get free admission to these casinos. Call ahead to ask them about their requirements.

Following is information from the Indiana Gaming Commission regarding average slot payout percentages for the nine-month period  from October 1, 2008 through June 30, 2004:

These figures reflect the average percentage returned by each casino for all of their electronic machines including slot machines, video poker, video keno, etc.

Unless otherwise noted, all casinos offer: blackjack, craps, roulette, slots, video poker, video keno and Caribbean stud poker. Optional games include: baccarat (B), mini-baccarat (MB), poker (P), pai gow poker (PGP), three card poker (TCP), Spanish 21 (S21), big 6 wheel (B6) and let it ride (LIR). The minimum gambling age is 21.

If you want to order a drink while playing, be aware that Indiana gaming regulations do not allow casinos to provide free alcoholic beverages.

NOTE: If you happen to win a jackpot of $1,200 or more in Indiana, the casino will withhold 3.4% of your winnings for the Indiana Department of Revenue. You may, however, be able to get some of that money refunded by filing a state income tax return. The $1,200 threshold also applies to any cash prizes won in casino drawings or tournaments.
